The Chilcoot Community Park and Other District Projects
Developing the Johnsville Ski Bowl at one time was a major focus of the District which is now overseen by the Plumas Sik Club.
The major focus of the Eastern Plumas Recreation District just before Covid hit and the District disbanded, was the formation of the Chilcoot Community Park. The District owns 5 acres in Chilcoot on Hwy 70 to the east of the Chilcoot Fire Department.
In March 2025, the District was reformed and new board members were appointed by the Plumas County Board of Supervisors. Meetings have been held in March, April and July after a bit of a rocky start and the next meeting will be held on August 19, 2025. We hope to see you there.
The District continues to seek funding to support all types of recreation opportunities in eastern Plumas County including trails, community parks and facilities and community and recreational events. The EPRD supports District 1, 2 and 5 in unincorporated spaces.
In the past, the District facilitated grants to improve trails for ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) bordering the Sierra Valley benefiting the eastern end of the county and provides Iron-Man event training for local youth. The District plans to build a recreation center on the property it owns on Hwy 70 in Chilcoot, CA which can provide the eastern end of Plumas County residents with a future community park.
