Board Members

The EPRD is governed by a five-member Board.  The Board of Supervisors appointed four new directors in January, 2025 whose terms will expire in October, 2025.

The Board holds its monthly meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM,  except in December when we take a break.  Meetings are held at the New Life Christian Center,  72690 CA-70, Portola, CA 96122, USA.

The Board meetings are open to the public.  If you need handicapped assistance please call or email us 24 hours in advance of the meeting to help us make sure we can accomodate your needs.  The facilities are wheelchair accessible.

The EPRD has no permanent administrative facility or hired staff.  We are a volunteer organization. Vounteeers are encouraged to particpate.  Currently, the EPRD has no tax base income from either property taxes or assessments.  All funds are strictly from donations.

Our major focus at this time is the planning of the Chilcoot Community Park and Recreation Center to be built on the 5 acre parcel that is owned by the District.  It is located along the railway tracks just east of the Chilcoot Fire Department.

In the long ago past, the District was an overseer of the rejuenation of the Johnsville Historic Ski Hill where downhill skiing was first established in the Western Hemisphere in the 1850's.  That duty is now being overseen by the Plumas Ski Club. While we still support the advancement of the Johnsville Ski Bowl, the Plumas Ski Club has taken over that project which is the heart of their Club and benefits their organization.. It has major historical significance for the region once name "The Lost Sierras."  The Ski Bowl is located within the State of California's Eureka State Park.

The District also owns a five acre parcel zoned for recreation in Chilcoot. Recent improvements to Frenchman's Lake trails improvements enhance access to that region which may tie to the Chilcoot. parcel orignially intended as a community park.  The EPRD District is a vehicle that the PSC can use for State grants.

In 2025, the EPRD District is reviving and its Directors are long time residents of Plumas County.  Come join us one time  a month and advance recreation for locals.  You'll be glad you did!  It's a lot of fun!  Really!
