EPRD Is Moving Forward!

A lot has changed at the Eastern Plumas Recreation District since this page was first written in 2020!

Beginning in 2025, a revitalized EPRD Board of Directors began working to rebuild the District, update its policies and procedures, strengthen its financial and administrative foundation, pursue grant opportunities and, most importantly, turn ideas for recreation in Eastern Plumas County into achievable projects.

Our Priorities for 2026 and Beyond

The Board is currently working on several important initiatives, including:

• Planning the future EPRD Headquarters and Chilcoot Community Park & Recreation Center on the District's five-acre property in Chilcoot.
• Pursuing state, federal and other grant funding to develop recreational facilities without creating a new financial burden for local residents.
• Obtaining information and bids for site preparation, grading, percolation testing, septic systems, parking and infrastructure needed to begin developing the Chilcoot property.
• Exploring recreational programs and facilities for children, families, seniors and outdoor enthusiasts.
• Developing partnerships with community organizations, businesses and other public agencies.
• Promoting responsible recreation and environmental stewardship throughout the Lost Sierra.
• Expanding recycling education and litter prevention through EPRD's Recycle Ranger Education & Outreach Program and our recycling raccoon, Rascal Ranger.
• Working with Grizzly Creek Services (GCS) to educate residents and young people about beverage-container recycling and keeping CRV bottles and cans out of our forests, trails, highways, scenic byways and waterways.
• Continuing to update EPRD's policies, procedures, insurance and other requirements necessary to operate a responsible California public recreation district.

We Need Community Participation

EPRD belongs to the communities it serves.

If you love Plumas County, enjoy outdoor recreation, have ideas for programs or facilities, or simply want to know what is happening, come to a Board meeting and get involved.

You don't need to be an expert. We need residents with ideas, enthusiasm, experience and a willingness to help.

EPRD is also currently seeking one qualified resident to fill the vacant fifth seat on our Board of Directors for a two-year term.

EPRD Board meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM, except December, when the Board normally takes a break.
